My Mentor
*A Short Biography of Ms. Anne Barnhart:
Through reading and writing, we can explore what lies within us, experience the moment, and understand our world. I became an English teacher because of my love for the human spirit, literature, and the study of thought.
From Iowa where I grew up as a child to Spain and Chile where I spent an extended period of time learning their language and cultures to quaint Rhode Island, I have encountered unique experiences that have been challenging, enlightening, and indelible--but all have made me who I am.
I graduated from Ames High School, moved on to The University of Northern Iowa for my undergraduate in both English and Spanish Education, and completed my Master's degree in English Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. I loved spending part of my summers in New York City, but I enjoy living here in Westerly:)
At the high school, I'm the advisor for WHS's Creative Writing Club--the Ink Bandits, co-advisor of the Outdoors Club, and co-advisor of Westerly's Alliance program. I have a variety of interests about which I am passionate and it shows through my involvement in writing, being outdoors, and maintaining an open heart and mind to all people.
I love teaching, and I love life. . .I look forward to learning all about each one of you this year, too!
